Welcome to my campaign website

Welcome to my campaign web site. At the Minnesota House of Representatives, I represent 38,000 people in Shoreview, North Oaks, Lexington, Blaine, Circle Pines, and Lino Lakes.

Thanks to your support in November 2006, I was able to support critical legislation that has put Minnesota back in the right direction so that we can address the challenges of a globalized economy. Achievements include:

* Energy & Environment: We passed landmark renewable energy and climate change legislation that will reduce and diversify our energy consumption. With the help of several other suburban legislators, I successfully advocated for more support for metro parks and our state trails. One of the things you'll notice when you get rid of your old computers and TVs is that you probably don't have to pay a hefty fee, which is the result of legislation that I co-authored.

* Health care: One of our biggest economic challenges is to increase the efficiency of our health care system and reduce costs while maintaining quality. I supported legislation that will help to reduce administrative costs, invest in prevention, and provide coverage to children.

* Education: Thanks to the leadership of our Senator Sandy Rummel, our education funding bill narrowed the funding gap for our local school districts by paying down the cost for most of the federal and state mandates for special education.

* Transportation: I supported the legislature's initiative to invest in our roads, bridges, and transit infrastructure that the Governor vetoed, while supporting amendments to allow voters to vote on a proposed half-cent sales tax increase.

I look forward to the 2008 session that will start on February 12th.
